Day 90

Day 90: 24 miles

I stayed at the toaster house in pie town last night which was great. I got a late start this morning after getting my food box and chowing down on 4 packets of ramen before I left, probably enough sodium to kill the average man.

The day would be pretty meh. The whole day was a road walk. Most of the section from pie town to grants is more of the same. I did have some really nice people stop and offer me water throughout the day a couple times.

I did meet one character on the road that told me the aliens are pretty active out here but I shouldn’t be worried cause they read our thoughts and as long as your thoughts are positive they’ll leave you alone. Also they only abduct people from the same family tree so unless you have relatives that have been abducted, don’t worry. And they only abduct people to sell our DNA on the backside of the sun cause our DNA “is really easy to replicate.” Just thought I’d share some of the wisdom I learned today.

The worst part of the day was when there was a steer on the road side of a barbed wire fence and when it saw me it got scared and tried to jump over the fence but didn’t make it. It then continued to struggle through this barbed wire fence while I was just cringing the whole time.

This is a really waterless stretch which kinda limited my miles today but it is what it is. In pie town I met another thru hiker and also learned that New Mexico is in a historic drought. Love to be a part of history. This other thru hiker was hiking with her 4 dogs. Crazy, I can hardly take care of myself

About Me

I'm from rural Ohio and had never camped or backpacked until 2018. Just 3 years later I completed a Calendar Year Triple Crown as my first thru hiking experience and now have ~15,000 miles of backpacking under my trail runners.
