Day 95

Day 95 (cdt 20): 25 miles

I ended up getting a later start today cause it was pretty chilly so I slept in a little longer. Then it ended up being one of the hottest days yet. Thankfully there was a nice breeze most of the day and not 30 mph winds. Today I was back in the desert desert. I was no longer hiking in forests with a lot of tree cover. It was back to super dry and really small brush so there was not a lot of defense from the sun today.

The hiking was also a little more difficult today. It felt like I was constantly going up and down mesas in the desert. Granted, they weren’t super tall but going up and down repeatedly is tiring. That being said, the landscape was beautiful from up on the mesas.

I found my first water source in about 35 miles. Other than the dead bugs on the surface it was pretty good. I also found a random half gallon on the trail and drank some but it tasted pretty strange. Then later in the day I came across a water cache. It was so nice to have good clean water and be able to chug.

Towards the end of the day I was walking on a road as it was starting to get dark and I came across a group of people partying. I asked if I could camp in the area and they said sure. I ended up staying there and drinking with them for a few hours.

Narrator: He would come to regret this decision
