Day 225 (HDT 41): 22 miles
It was a late start to the day. I left the hotel around 10:30 and Fancy Feast later. We took the alternate out of Colorado City to reconnect with the trail and it was quite scenic.
I hiked by a rock formation called “The Beehive” which was cool and it was just a day full of cool desert rocks. There was still quite a bit of snow on the ground. Whether I was walking in it or not totally depended on how much sun the section of that ground got. But it was never much snow.
I hiked to the end of the road near The Barracks. I got there after dark but a car camper nearby said it was really cool. Itll be another night down in the mid-teens and it already feels pretty chilly. We’ll descend down to the East Fork of the Virgin river in the morning and get this ole Hayduke thing finished.
Song of the day: something in the way-Nirvana
