Day 113

Day 113 (pct 3): 32 miles
I didn’t sleep great last night cause I kinda half assed my tent setup in an okay spot but the wind just flapped the tent a lot and it was pretty loud which kept me up a lot. After getting a slightly later start than I had hoped it was a good day.
It was only a couple miles to a campground where I could get some clean water and use a porcelain throne. When I was outside the bathroom a dad was going into the ladies room with his two young daughters and one of them stopped, looked him dead in the eye, and said “you can’t go in there.” After some convincing she allowed it but I got a good laugh.
It was a beautiful and not super difficult day of hiking. Most of the day was walking on a ledge over a huge desert valley with constant beauty. The one downside was I did see a snake on the trail on the ledge and threw a rock to try to get it to move. I threw it on the top side of the ledge thinking it would go the opposite way but instead it lunged at the rock and landed in a bush right along the trail on the top side. After pumping myself up in my head I ran by it and carried on with my day. My more favorable encounter with a snake today was seeing a bird flying with one in its beak which was cool to see. Nature man I tell ya
At the end of the day I wanted to go longer again but I was afraid to gamble with camping spots and I’m still chafing. I just need my skin to get used to it since it’s supposed to really start heating up tomorrow.
I’m cowboy camping tonight cause the ground was too hard here to set up my tent with stakes but it’s pretty windy so we’ll see how enjoyable tonight is
Song of the day: open letter-lil Wayne
