Day 116

Day 116 (pct 6): 35 miles
I didn’t sleep too well last night cause I was on a pretty major slope. It’s kinda hard to tell if a spot is flat or not when it’s dark. This one looked pretty good but I woke up having slipped off my ground cloth now with a dirty sleeping pad and bag.
I got going pretty early to make it to Mary’s oasis by the midday heat. This is a pretty dry stretch but this spot has a water tank and shade... and I hit the jackpot. Mary, a trail angel here, comes and grills out, gives out pie, and more on 2 days of the year and this was one of those days. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. I ended up taking a much longer break there than expected hanging out with some other hikers.
Quote of the day: *as a guy is being served grilled chicken in the middle of the desert*
“I’m just waiting for a gust of wind to hit my tent and wake me up.”
After leaving there the day was beautiful ridge walking viewing the San jacinto mountains. I hiked pretty late into the night to make it semi short day into idylwild tomorrow so hopefully I can get out of town at a decent time and summit mount San Jacinto.
Saw a snake capture a lizard this morning
