Day 118

Day 118 (pct 8): 29 miles
It was cold this morning (around 20) and I slept like shit last night so I didn’t get up until 5:45 which was later than I planned. My fingers were going numb filtering water early this morning. I didn’t really want to but it was 20 miles till the next water.
In the morning the vibes were up and I was doing really well. I was enjoying the decline and how long it was gonna be. But later in the day it began to wear in me. There wasn’t really any shelter from the sun in the way down. I didn’t expect a 9,600 foot descent to tire me out so much but it did. By the time I got to the bottom and filled up on water and tested a bit I only did like 7 more miles to camp for the night in hopes to get up early since I’ll probably have to take a long midday break with the temperature tomorrow.
This morning I was seeing a lot of pikas or small squirrels, couldn’t exactly tell. But these things were crazy. They were so fast and I swear I saw one jump 4+ feet from one rock to another and these things are like 3 inches long.
I finished my first audiobook today, uncle tom’s cabin. It was slow in the beginning but got good toward the end.
Thought of the day: why do kids get stung by bees more often than adults? My guess is slower reaction time but not sure. This came to my mind as I had to run by a bee nest today.
Song of the day: blunt blowin-lil Wayne
