Day 119

Day 119 (pct 9): 27 miles
Some days you’re the tortoise. Some days you’re the hare. I usually try to be both but today I couldn’t get out of my shell.
I got up and going pretty early to try to beat the heat but it still got hot early. The morning was a few short climbs and then descents back down into a valley but once I reached mission creek it was a steady uphill climb the rest of the day. The nice part about the day was that a lot of the trail was along a creek so, for once, I had consistent access to water. Being around water also makes it a little bit cooler and there’s actually trees that provide shade around.
The bad part was that in some areas the trail was washed out and kinda hard to follow. Due to this, heat, and constant uphill I moved a little slower than I want to. Towards the end of the day I was pretty worn out and saw a group of tents off the trail a bit. I went to check it out and found a nice spot and a nice crowd. This sets me up pretty well. I am able to have some access to water really early in the morning (which I would’ve had to pass by if I kept going). This is big cause it is about 18 miles until water again.
Song of the day: big empty-stone temple pilots
