Day 121

Day 121 (pct 11): 33 miles

It was a fast moving morning. I felt good and didn’t want to stop so I passed on several water sources telling myself I’d be fine.

Stay alive, don’t text and walk: I was trying to change to an audiobook on my phone this morning when I ran into a branch at exactly head level and conked my head pretty good. It’s been a while since I’ve had a good head injury. This brings me back to 6th grade where I got jumped by a high school kid that boxed and he used my head as a punching bag because another kid named Brandon insulted his friend but that’s a story for another time.

Most of the day was walking high up in deep creek canyon which was cool. It was kinda similar to the Gila just less astonishing. I was pretty tired and thirsty around 1 so I laid down on the trail for 5 minutes just to take a short break. I ended up falling asleep and Hobbs came along 20 minutes later and woke me up thankfully. Vicki then pointed out that if I would’ve walked another 30 yards there was water there.😅😬

I made it over 20 miles to deep creek hot springs around 2pm and soaked my feet for about 10 minutes before getting moving again. Shortly after as I was hiking there was a pretty large hole in the ground. I was about to step right beside it but then I saw a triangular head peering out of the hole. Kinda like whack a mole but with a snake. I then immediately backed up and made a nice loop around.

With limited camping options and my body telling me so, I ended up stopping a little early for the day.

Passed mile 300 on the pct
