Day 124 (pct 14): 33 miles
You’re going to want to read this (although it’s mostly for the boys back home). I wanna get the fundraising for AFSP up more and am coming up on the LA aqueduct, a flat and relatively boring part of trail. So for every additional $100 raised before then (probably Tuesday/Wednesday this week. I’ll crush a beer, probably some shotguns, maybe even a 4 loko on the day of the LA aqueduct. It should make the day a little more interesting and let’s raise some money. If you trust me and don’t want to put in your credit card info at the donation link in my bio you can Venmo me @ Brandon_weis and I’ll make a group donation
So onto today. I woke up 90 minutes late but still managed a 33 mile day by 7:30 even though I was going pretty slow at times today. For a bit of the trail it was reportedly really overgrown with some poodle dog bush in the area so I took a forest road that ran alongside it for a while. Even when I got back in the real trail it was still pretty overgrown at times and I’m just hoping I didn’t touch any PDB or poison oak. Everything looks like it could be it to me.
I was really dragging ass in the afternoon but then I turned on some Motley Crue and a hard rock playlist and I got rolling. Earlier in the day I was listening to an episode of This is Important (podcast by the workaholics guys) and was laughing and crying so hard I couldn’t see and nearly fell down the side of a mountain. This isn’t the first time this podcast almost killed me. I was listening to it in New Mexico and started was drinking water when it made me laugh and I started to choke/drown whatever you want to call it. These guys are so funny it’s deadly.
Today was a pretty great day of hiking. A lot of it was on, or near, a ridge with great views of the surrounding mountains. There were several times where I’d round a corner and just say damn cause the views were incredible.
Song of the day: kickstart my heart-motley Crue
