Day 125

Day 125

Day 125 (pct 15): 30 miles

Probably gonna get to the store today to start the aqueduct so donate soon!

I was awakened by a train repeatedly blasting its horn. I got going and made it to Agua Dulce around 9:30. Before that I passed through Vasquez Rocks which is an area where a lot of Hollywood movies and tv are filmed. I saw this sign there and was a little confused how Over the Hedge was filmed there.

I was planning on doing a 2 day resupply here but that was impossible. The only place to buy any groceries in town was a general/liquor store and what little there was was already picked over. So I just got a couple candy bars and thought I would have to get off trail tomorrow to do another resupply but right as I was leaving town, Breezy who I met when i got into town just got a food box with too much so he gave me some which was actually the perfect amount I needed. The trail provides!

I chowed down at big mouth pizza (I learned my lesson and inky went with a 14 inch pizza) and got moving on trail again. I left around 12:30 so I basically perfectly timed the uphill climb to be in the hottest part of the day. It wasn’t too bad though, looks like it’s supposed to start heating back up tomorrow. I cameled up at a water source for a while and chatted with a few other hikers before cruising 12 more miles to my camp for the night. When I got to camp a girl just got into her tent and I said “howdy” and accidentally scared the shit out of her. I must move more stealthily than I think.

Late in the day today I heard something on the slope on the side of me moving fast in the leaves toward me on the trail. I started to jog a little and then turned around and it was a little nonvenomous snake. Little goofball probably got scared I was coming and accidentally moved toward me instead of away

May is mental health awareness month. Please consider donating to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at the link in my bio! Especially if you like beer
