Day 128

Day 128 (pct 18): 28 miles
My plan of waking up at 4 did not come to fruition but I got up and moving around 5:30. The morning was nice and cool with a strong wind. I passed by some horses on trail just hanging out. Couldn’t stay there too long, just too much horsepower in one place. The first half the day was walking through mostly wind fields which was nice to have a strong breeze the whole time.
I got into tachapi and did a quick resupply and had to make sure to get a new water bottle cause that old one still smelled and tasted like four loko, not a great lingering taste. I thenfeasted like a king with 4 double cheeseburgers 30 chicken nuggets and 2 large fries. Maybe a little too much since I had to stay there for a while and digest while I was incapacitated.
Outside the grocery store today I got some old guy wisdom dropped on me. We were talking for a little bit then he asked where my group was and I said I don’t really have one. He told me I better get one or I’m not gonna finish. I should’ve went Walter White on him and said “you clearly don’t know who you’re talking to so let me clue you in. A man goes on a hike and gets attacked by a cougar and one dies and you think that of me? No. I am the one who lives.” But instead I said “yeah maybe” and let him preach.
Took like an hour to get a hitch back out of town but finally a nice police officer stopped and brought me back to the trailhead. It feels good to ride in the front seat of a cop car.
After leaving it was a 2,000 foot climb when it was still warm but the miles weren’t too bad.
