Day 143

Day 143

Day 143 (pct 33): 23 miles + 4 bonus miles

I slept in a little this morning enjoying the real bed but got slowly moving for the day. After I got back in trail things felt normal again, right where I left them. I ran into a lot of people going out for weekend or multi day trips. It’s always kinda funny to see their reactions when they ask “how far you going” and I say well, Canada.

I went over island pass really late in the day and it was some of the worst postholing I’ve dealt with in a while. It’s still nothing compared to New Mexico or Vermont but it was annoying. It was pretty warm today and I was there so late in the day so that’s why it was bad. But it actually made me end the day pretty early right before climbing up to Donahue Pass where I assume the snow will only get worse going up. So hopefully I can get up early but we’ll see how well that plan holds.

I’m already noticing a sunburn on my arms from wearing a short sleeve shirt, wish I had more sunscreen. It does feel great to have a clean shirt on though. I could just feel the grime from that other one immediately when I put it in. Nothing wrong with a little grime, but this is nice for now. Today was the first day I really started to notice a lot of bugs and mosquitoes, hopefully just a blip and doesn’t linger.

Imma take a moment to appreciate the dirt I set up my tent on, probably the best dirt yet. It was easy to get the stakes in and they held well. Just big shoutout to the dirt

Overall pretty uneventful day
