Day 144

Day 144 (pct 34): 29 miles
I ended up sleeping in a little cause I slept surprisingly well even with this sleeping pad. With a late start I went over Donahue Pass and entered Yosemite National Park. Before I went here in 2018 whenever I saw that word I thought it was yos-might. I had heard of Yosemite but just figured it was spelled different. Not sure how common that is
It was pretty slow going with some postholing and not really having a trail so just wandering around a bit sometimes. And even coming down from it the trail was really hard to follow so by midday I hadn’t had many miles covered.
Thankfully after that descent it was a long flat walk in a valley. I saw a lot of people today heading in for backpacking trips. Tuoleme Meadows must be a pretty easy access point cause there was a lot of people. I can’t complain too much though cause one of them gave me a beer. Even for an IPA, it went down good and got my vibes up for a while.
It was raining long before I got the beer and for a while after. It wasn’t a heavy downpour but would rain off and on. I didn’t mind too much, I was having a good time.
I saw a ton of deer today. They must be really accustomed to people cause most of them didn’t care.
I passed by soda springs today, a spot where carbonated water naturally comes out of the ground they cannot be explained by scientists. I wonder if this was in Ohio if it would be called Pop Springs. Pop gang stand up. I’ll still never understand how the south says coke to refer to any soft drink. “I’ll take a coke. Okay what kind would you like? I’ll have a Mountain Dew.” Like what? These are the things I can ponder for hours out here and still not make sense of
Last night a mouse or pika or something got into my pack and chewed into my toilet paper through its plastic bag. Wouldn’t have been my first choice but to each their own.
Songs of the day: Levels-Avicii (got me going after midday)
Before I forget- slipknot (got me pumped during the rain)
No worries-lil Wayne (was shouting along with Weezy as massive thunder was crashing right above)
