Day 147

Day 147 (pct 37): 18 miles
Well I pretty much ran out of food yesterday since I was supposed to be at the resupply by then so I started out the morning with 1 tuna packet to fuel me for 18 miles. Hungry dogs are suppose to run faster right?
Well I was feeling pretty shitty but thankfully I met JR and tiny from South Dakota who shared some snacks to help me make it to the road crossing.
Other than that act of kindness the day wasnt great. There was a lot of snow near Sonora Pass and it was questionable at times. For a decent amount of the day the trail was non navigable so there was a good amount of make your own adventure. I’d frequently do a big loop up or down around a huge pack of snow to avoid the questionable steps on the steep snow field. But at other times I’d try to follow the mostly melted footsteps of somebody that did it a few days ago. When i did that I usually wished I hadn’t. There was a lot of postholing and it was exhausting trying to maneuver across a steep snow field without falling a few hundred feet.
So a lot of bad trail today but apparently that was the last 11,000 foot mountain so hopefully the trail is more conducive to big miles soon. Ended up calling it a day after the 18 miles to the resupply and hostel for the night. My feet have been soaked for the last few days and my socks smell like shit from the dirty snow melt and river water so it sounded nice to get cleaned up a bit. The water in Yosemite was not like that in sequoia and kings canyon. It smelled and there was so much stagnant water it was kinda gross.
Passed the 1,000 mile marker today. Also can finally get rid of this 2 pound trash can after the last 300 miles.
