Day 149

Day 149

Day 149 (pct 39): 34 miles

It was a pretty good morning until some strong discomfort started happening. I started to notice some pain under a few of my toes. I took off my socks to inspect and there were a few small cuts on a couple toes underneath on the joint part. They were small but constantly touching my dirty socks and bending with my toes. I’m not sure exactly where they came from. At first i though it might’ve been from some small rocks in my shoes or some overgrown toenails for a bit cutting into the next toe but now I’ve noticed they’re on every toe so my spicy theory is that my socks are so worn out they are basically solid as concrete with a lot of holes so I think the constant rubbing on those hard socks might’ve caused the cuts. But they’re really annoying and I feel some strong discomfort with every step. So today didn’t feel too great.

It was pretty brutal to push 34 miles today but I wanna try to get to Tahoe a little early so I can let my feet rest for a bit and hope they heal.

Other than thinking about my feet all day the terrain was patchy snow so I had wet feet most of the day again. It didn’t help that I lost trail pretty early in the day and basically walked through a swampy field to reconnect with the trail.

Song of the day: all apologies-Nirvana
