Day 160

Day 160 (pct 50): 27 miles

Thankfully the sun started cooking me in my tent around 9 right when I wanted to get up. It was a quick 6 miles to get into town. For a bit of the trail it looked like the trail was the stopping point for a fire in the past. Everything to the left was burnt and black but everything in the right was normal.

For some reason I thought I sent a food package here but I didn’t, I’ll be getting the one I actually sent a little further along tomorrow. I was a little low on food so I ate at JJ’s cafe in town and had some good food and Dr Pepper while charging up my stuff and resting for a few hours.

After leaving town I began the hike along the Hat Creek Rim. I guess this used to be a much more challenging part of trail cause there was like a 40 mile stretch without water but now they installed a water tank about halfway through so it’s not bad. I managed with only my 1.5 L bottle. It was cool hiking though, flat and easy which I like, but also constant views over the valley.

When I got to camp I started setting up near some other people and there was a cow and her calves nearby. Momma was yelling a few times and came really close to my tent to hangout for a few minutes before scurrying off. I think it might’ve been a hidden camera Chick-fil-A commercial. Eat more chicken

I was talking on the phone with a buddy a few days ago and he thought I should share this quote which I just now remembered. “Before this trip peanut butter was one of my favorite foods. Now it’s lost all joy and is strictly utility.”
