Day 162

June 16, 2021

Day 162

Day 162 (pct 52): 33 miles

I slept in way too late today and don’t get making until around 8:30. Luckily so did Hammer Grease and I found out he wants to try to do the same mileage as me so it’s nice to hike with someone for a change.

It was a warm day and water was a little spread out and usually a bit off trail which was a little annoying. Around midday we sat and took a short break in the shade and while we were talking we heard a ruckus start going on near us. A bear was coming down the trail toward us and once he noticed we were there he took off straight up the hill.

My feet are really dirty cause my socks are really dirty so they’re basically black whenever I take them off. Unfortunately all the streams were really small today but I’m hoping tomorrow there’s a big one where I can wash my feet and get a layer of dirt off.

The sky was incredible as the sun was going down. It looked like the cover of a Flume album. I can’t think of a what a Flume album looks like but I assume it was that sky.

Mount Shasta came into view today which I’ll be looking at for the next couple hundred miles. I might have previously thought one of the tall snow capped volcano mountains I was seeing was Shasta but now this is the real deal.

It’s supposed to start getting hotter tomorrow🙃
