Day 163

Day 163 (pct 53): 29 miles

Got moving around 7:30 this morning and was covering ground pretty good in the morning...then it got hot. I was told it was 97 today. It was pretty hot all day but thankfully I was in the shade for the most part which I wasn’t expecting.

In the morning I heard something climbing a tree off to my left and saw 2 bear cubs. I started making noise and a couple seconds later saw momma about 20 feet below me giving me the death stare. I just kept walking and all was gucci. Later in the day we saw 3 more, another momma and 2 Cubs.

Around midday we got to mccloud river and took a nice break there. I rinsed out one pair of my socks and cleaned my feet. My athelete’s foot came back a little today and hurt so cleaning them up a bit helped.

Nearly the whole day was in the forest so there weren’t really any views but I was willing to make that trade off for the shade in this heat.

Late in the day I opened a Reese’s peanut butter cup I had. I thought it might be a little melted but as I started ripping it, brown liquid just started coming out. Then I immediately I got stung or bit by something that hurt. A series of unfortunate events.

I think i rubbed into some sort of irritating plant. My legs and parts of my arms are burning a little, but not terrible.

Song of the day: she hates me-puddle of mudd
