Day 164

Day 164 (pct 54): 25 miles

Got up at 4:30 to do the quick 12 miles into town. Called and overpaid for a ride while 2 people offered us a ride while we were waiting for him to show up🙃

Got a little breakfast in town after resupplying. Really we were just biding our time until 11 when the pizza place opened. Then we went there at 11 and it didn’t open until 12. In the meantime we hung out at a coffeehouse/store/good vibes spot. It was a cool place with a lot of vinyl and music art, definitely the kinda place where the alternative kids in high school that wanna be cool and different hang out.

Went to the pizza place when it opened and it was very average, too greasy. Probably the worst pizza I’ve had on trail but it was a good place to hangout. Ended up hanging out there until almost 6pm cause it was so hot outside. They didn’t have Dr Pepper so I downed a lot of coke. Coca Cola, I’m not Oregon yet

Said goodbye to ground score and Burk as they finished their thru hike in dunsmir after having to get off trail last year from fires. Also met a girl named detour in town that recognized me from Instagram. I think that might qualify me as a Z list celebrity.

It ended up taking 50 minutes to get a hitch out of town which i think is the longest I’ve waited all year and we got back on trail around 7. It was still freakin hot and it was almost a 5,000 foot climb out of town. We were still smoking hot and dripping in sweat when we got to camp around 1am. There was just no wind at all. There was so little wind there might have been negative wind. Alarm set for 4:30 to try to beat the heat
