Day 165

Day 165 (pct 55): 35 miles
Surprisingly after being up for 21 hours straight and then planning on getting up after 3 hours of sleep, it didn’t go as planned. I ended up getting up around 6:15. It was warm in the morning but not unbearable. There was a little climbing left before the trail flattened out.
We got to porcupine lake around 2 and hung out there for a while trying to catch up on some sleep and waiting out a hot part of the day. It’s still pretty hot but it’s a little better at this higher elevation and there is a slight breeze now and then. Left there around 5:30. It was still hot but the heat was starting to break for the day.
We were hoping to do 21 more miles after leaving there. Got to a bathroom a few miles later with about 1,000 flies in it but I still opted for the porcelain throne. We were feeling good for a while until around midnight then we both felt super tired and were sluggish and tripping constantly. We ended up finding some flat spots to cowboy 3 miles shorter than we hoped but it was something. The mosquitoes were pretty bad so I had to sleep with a headnet on but they were still annoying. Got to bed after 1, alarm set for 5.
Song of the day: yellow Ledbetter-pearl jam
Was belting out the lyrics when I turned a corner and came upon 3 men out for the weekend that looked at me with fear. As if I wasn’t a good singer or something
