Day 167 (pct 57): 33 miles
Well I don’t think Marcus Aurelius ever tried to consistently hike 30 miles with atheletes foot.
Got up around 3:30 and hiked early to catch up to hammer and hiked 23 miles down to a road to resupply in Etna. We thought about pushing onto the next town but just needed a little more food. It was warm again today but not as hot as it’s been.
The mosquitoes were crazy this morning. As I started getting assaulted from every direction I pulled out my deet to try to even the odds and was unpleased to find it all leaked out. And if you don’t know what deet is it’s heavy duty bug spray that is very bad for your nervous system and can easily melt through fabrics. I was not happy when I noticed it on my backpack and mask. Later in the day I had to use that facial mask and probably took a few months off my life.
We got a ride into town from a great trail angel that did our laundry for us while we shopped and got a burger and plenty of dr peppers at a place called Dotty’s. Shoutout to Soul Saver.
My atheletes foot is getting really bad again and hurts with every single step. Unfortunately the store in town only had poison ivy cream, no atheletes foot cream. The scenery was great this morning but I couldn’t really enjoy it cause j was paying too much attention to my foot pain. Thankfully after my socks got cleaned my feet did feel a little better. The miles after town went by pretty quick and we got to camp a little after 10.
Song of the day: radioactive (remix)-imagine dragons and Kendrick Lamar
The original song is eh cause it was so overplayed but the Kendrick verse is one of the hardest in rap and had me sprinting down the trail
