Day 169

Day 169 (pct 59): 29 miles
I overslept and got up at 5:30. I was hoping the trail would be better after this campsite cause it was a a little better the last mile before it. But alas it wasn’t. Most of the morning was filled with bushwhacking until I got down to the road walk into town. I shoulda brought a machete.
There was a bird this morning that was annoying the hell out of me. It followed me for over a half hour hopping from tree to tree and it a sound was so annoying. I was about ready to javelin throw my trekking pole to make it stop.
Got into town around noon and hung out until about 5:30 waiting the heat out. It was good to charge stuff up and force down a bunch of food. There was another annoying bird while we were hanging out here. It kept flying over all day looking for food and shit on my food bag one time. I ain’t a killer but don’t push me
A thunderstorm was forming as we were starting back up but it brought a little wind and cooler temps which was fine with me. The trail was allegedly overgrown on this ascent too and we’d had enough of that so we took a forest road to reconnect with the trail instead to a solid that area. It was a long and gradual climb out of town but overall not that bad. I didn’t notice it until we stopped near the top but my legs felt pretty tired from doing the exact same motion ascending a few thousand feet on the road.
According to the weather channel it was 108 today but it didn’t feel like it. Albeit I was sitting in the shade in town for the hot part of the day and still sweating but still.
The near full moon looks amazing tonight over the tree filled ridge line. iPhone really needs to figure out the moon camera. Get on it Tim Apple
