Day 171 (pct 61): 15 miles
Today was a great day that didn’t go according to plan. We hiked the quick 15 miles to the road crossing to get into Ashland. There were a lot of day hikers out in this area, the most I’ve seen in a while. Once we got to the road crossing, Charley, a hiker and trail angel in Ashland, picked us up to run errands in town.
As I was hiking I saw a wire off to the left and thought it was just a telephone pole wire or something like that. Shortly after, I heard a person yell and turned around to see someone slacklining. Thankfully the trapeze artist didn’t fall.
There was a sign for a section I was walking through that said there would be a wedding tomorrow. I wish it would’ve timed out nicely so they could have hikertrash walking in the background of the pictures as they said “I do.”
Hammer stopped by the post office to pick up a package he needed but it wasn’t delivered yet which threw a wrench in our plans. After showering, doing laundry, and getting a bite to eat I was gonna get back on trail and just have hammer catch up to me over the next few days. As I was sitting down at Charley’s place it got harder and harder to want to get back on trail. I ended up deciding to stay the night there with Hammer and get back on trail in the morning.
It was a pretty good night. Had some brews and watched Bo Burnam’s Inside. Shoutout to Charley for the great hospitality.
