Day 175

Day 175

Day 175 (pct 65): 23 miles

After waking up and packing up to get out of there before someone important told me I shouldn’t the there I started walking on a road on the campground road to get to the store. I turned a corner and saw Hammer. We timed it perfectly to intersect without even knowing it. (He camped in a different spot at the campground last night cause he got there earlier)

We ended up charging stuff and dinking around until almost noon before we left. It was noce though. I got some ice cream which felt great with all the heat we’ve been dealing with lately. Today was the first day below 90 degrees in 2 weeks. Shortly before leaving hammer asked me if i wanted a beer and my preference. I said sure just not an IPA. And he came back out with a Fanta cause all they had were IPA’s😂. It’s my fault, I should’ve known since we’re in Oregon.

Even though it wasn’t 90 it was still warm today. We took the rim trail alternate and the hiking was mostly exposed all day. It looked pretty flat on the topo map but it turned out to be just a lot of little ups and downs.

Late in the day hammer and o both admitted to each other that we probably couldn’t do another 30 and get to bed at a reasonable time. It would’ve been after midnight again. So we ended up doing a short day and camping by a water cache and got to bed by 10.

Crater Lake was amazing, probably the most perfect shade of blue water I’ve ever seen. There were large pockets of pollen on the surface which was interesting.

Song of the day: lonely-Akon
