Day 177

Day 177 (pct 67): 28 miles
I had planned on getting up at 3am to get to Shelter Cove resort to resupply with plenty of time before they closed. That was the plan. I ended up getting up after 8am and only because the of the sun was cooking me in my tent. Oversleeping for 5 hours might be my new personal record. One of the reasons I didn’t want to get up was because there were over a hundred mosquitoes just waiting for me on the inside of my tent door. Foreshadowing for the day
After that, the day was constant aggression and not one moment of relaxation. It was probably one of the most frustrating days of hiking I’ve had. I couldn’t stop moving all day because the swarm was constant. The only time I stopped moving was after 15 miles to get some water in an area that was a little better. I took advantage because I was only being swarmed by like 30 mosquitoes instead of hundreds. Then I did the remaining 13 miles to camp without stopping at all. I wasn’t able to eat any food all day cause I couldn’t stop moving. I ended up camping near the resort which we’ll hit as soon as it opens because it was closed by the time we got close since we slept in.
The diamond peak wilderness area was really cool, especially up at elevation. There were plenty of beautiful lakes too. I just couldn’t really enjoy it since I was being assaulted all day.
After doing some calculations, I estimate that I killed about 1,200 mosquitoes today.
I learned today that hammer grew up with a ghost in his house. I feel like this is something he should have disclosed at the beginning.
Song of the day: this is how you remind me-nickelback
Yeah I’ll say it. I like Nickelback. Deal with it
