Day 184

Day 184

Day 184 (pct 74): 26 miles

With as heavy as my pack was I tried to scarf down as much food as possible this morning. Even after doing so when I got rolling, it was still extremely uncomfortable and slow going. Feeling the weight of it more now, this is probably more like 6-7 days of food instead of 5. On the bright side hopefully I can bulk up a little with the extra food but it’s a real bitch to carry. This pack is supposed to always carry less than 20 pounds and the absolute max it’s supposed to handle is 25. I don’t know what it is right now but it’s definitely more than that.

To add to this problem, I slept on a slope last night and it really tightened up my back and neck which were hurting all day. I got whiplash a few times too when I turned my head to look at something. I was also having some stomach problems and had a headache from my right neck so it was a pretty fun day.

The climbing was also pretty brutal today, a 3,000 foot and 1,500 foot climb to start out Washington. It looks like it’s gonna be a lot more up and down.

I saw a bunch of nasty slugs on the trail today. Slimy brown and gross
