Day 185

Day 185

Day 185 (pct 75): 38 miles

After a few miles this morning I came across a campground where it was really nice to dump some trash to lessen my load a little. I’ve continued to try to eat as much as possible, especially to take advantage of throwing it away this morning. This campground also had a water pump that I think required black magic to work properly. I got it to work a little and got some water out of it but it was a real pain. Thankfully I was also able to acquire (steal) some toilet paper from this campground otherwise I would’ve run out which is not ideal.

Leaving the campground I knew hammer already had a head start on me since he went farther yesterday so I took a forest road to save some time and just do a gradual climb to the top instead of a PUD (pointless up and down) which takes more time. I met him again at the top and we pushed on for a while before he ended up going farther for the day.

The skeeters were back at times today. I was being swarmed while trying to filter water before a little 10 mile carry.

I felt quite a bit better today. Yesterday my neck and back were extremely tight from sleeping on a slope the night before and they’re gradually getting better. And the more I eat the lighter my pack is getting. It’s approaching a comfortable carrying weight again.

Song of the day: sunflower-post Malone
