Day 186

Day 186 (pct 76): 34 miles

I slept for 7 hours and woke up to catch hammer. After about 4 miles I passed him getting out of bed for the day. We met labrat who is another thru hiker. She told us that there’s probably nobody ahead of us currently. A couple people finished recently but all the people hammer thought were ahead of us are not. This was surprising cause I thought there were 10-15 people ahead. Looks like it’ll be pretty isolated for hammer and I the rest of the way.

Today was filled with more brutal climbing. It just seems never ending at times. The mosquitoes rotate back and forth from being a real pain in the ass to absent. Today I had to relieve myself in a really bad area they were really a pain in the ass 😄Thanks, I’ll be here all week

Hammer met some people late in the day that were out for the weekend and were shocked to here that we were here already. “You’re not suppose to be here” was probably my favorite line he told me.

The past few days have been filled with tough climbing without much reward. We finally got to see some vast landscapes today near the top. Most of the time we just get little peeks at the beauty that lies beyond. The sunsets have look stunning through the trees. I can’t see much but they look splendid. This area is also cool cause sometimes we’ll turn a corner and there’s just a new massive 13 or 14,000 foot breathtaking mountain covered in snow.
