Day 188 (pct 78): 20 miles
Woke up early and did 15 miles to get to White Pass, the next resupply point. I picked up my food box which was sent a while ago. My package with my shoes and socks was also supposed to be here. It wasn’t there again🙃 I walked 150 miles faster than that package could be bounced there.
When they told me it was there I wasn’t even phased anymore. Pain is constant. Resistance is futile. I had no reaction other than acceptance.
Thankfully there was another hiker there from Washington that had his mom run to a store to get some shoes and socks for me. People rock. Moms rock
We sat around the store for a solid 7 hours waiting for my new shoes to be delivered before we got rolling again. The store had moths in dew voltage so you know it was a good establishment. Had some good pizza. Probably still carrying too much food again. I had way more than a day’s extra when I got here.
We got back on trail around 7:30 and fought through hordes of mosquitoes before making camp after a few miles. Hammer lost his phone and as I was turning around to help him look for it I was ready to start yelling at him for being a goofball cause the last thing I wanted to do was stand still and look around for a phone on the ground in mosquito hell but thankfully he found it within 20 seconds.
Setting up camp was maybe the worst I’ve had them at a single spot. It was insane how many were around. After I got in my tent I probably killed 30 that got in during the 3 seconds it took me to jump in my tent and close the door. I had mosquito guts all over my hands and decided the best route was probably to just wipe them on my legs. I currently see a couple hundred setting up their battle lines on my tent door.
I had to tighten my watch today. Not a good sign for my body
