Day 192

Day 192

Day 192 (pct 82): 30 miles

It was really wet and foggy this morning. It wasn’t raining hard but the mountain we were on was engulfed in a cloud and there was just a lot of moisture in the air. It was nice to have a cooler morning but the area I was walking through was supposed to be really beautiful and iconic. All I saw was the cloud.

It was also a slow moving morning cause it was really steep and just hiking on big loose rocks. I checked my phone after 2 hours and it said I only moved 3.6 miles. I thought it wasn’t updating but I was just slow.

Around noon I went over a ridge and the other side was more clear. It was a pretty area. Later in the day we began another 2,000+ foot climb and hammer went ahead to get to camp earlier. My foot started to hurt again so I was moving slower than usual and didn’t get to camp until 10:40.

I saw some tents just before the area where we planned on camping so I went to go see if hammer was camping there. I didn’t see his tent but then I heard a noise behind the 2 I saw so I figured it was him so I went to go check it out. I got back there and it turned out it was a deer rummaging around.

In the evening my throat started to hurt out of nowhere. I wasn’t sure if I was getting sick or what was happening. Then I felt something in it like a chunk of cliff bar or something. It was hurting so I tried to spit it out but didn’t have much luck. A few minutes later it must’ve gotten stuck on my uvula cause I started gagging and threw up a little bit. I think that was my first puke of the year. Felt good

Today i was listening to an old episode of backpacker radio and it was funny cause they were talking about how rocky this exact section of trail was.
