Day 193

Day 193 (pct 83): 29 miles

Today was rough cause the terrain was brutal. So much climbing, around 7,500 feet today. The morning was really slow going. In the middle of the day I reached a roaring river of snow melt that I had to Ford. There was a possible 4-5 foot jump across that was possible but it had deadly consequences if anything went wrong. I stared at it for about 10 minutes before I decided I valued my life slightly more than dry feet, but not by much. I ended up going 30 yards downstream and it was a little less crazy and walked across fine. I had wet shoes and socks for the next few hours which led to something else later....

I was moving slow all day until I finally reached the last big climb. I got to the top and al of a sudden everything was joyful. The vibes were up, I started bumping some good tunes, and moving fast again. Towards the end of the day I came across a guy that had an amazing voice and reminded me of someone but I couldn’t put my finger on it at the time. A few minutes later I realized it sounded just like the old guy in Training Day, and he looked like him too.

I ended up getting to camp a little before 10:30 and there was an outhouse there which I was looking forward to all day. It was a toilet but it forgot the house part so I got eaten alive by mosquitoes.

And when I got in my tent and took off my socks I was a bit scared. My foot looked very bad. I had had this white raised skin with black spots for a while now but it was much bigger and scary looking now after walking in wet shoes for hours. It doesn’t hurt but I am worried about it so hopefully I can get it checked out before I start the cdt.

Song of the day: 23-Miley Cyrus
