Day 194

Day 194 (pct 84): 25 miles
I woke up and talked to some sobos while getting ready for the day. I asked the group if anyone knew much about feet and one guy said it looked like I still had 2 so that was a good sign.
It was a little under 8 miles to get to stevens pass where I picked up my food box at the ski lodge there. Other than one guy helping hikers with their food boxes it was all closed up which was a a little disappointing cause I was looking forward to some cold Dr Pepper. I talked shortly with a few sobos and for a while with a mom and her daughter who were killing some time. Describing, and answering questions about thru hiking to a child was pretty enjoyable
I ended up staying there longer than expected and didn’t leave until nearly 2. After doing a few miles hammer caught up with me after he had to hitch in and out of town to get food for the next stretch.
After a bit I made a pulp fiction reference to which he responded “I’ve never seen it.” Then shortly after he said, “I’ve seen footloose.” AS IF THATS ANY CONSOLATION. smh and then later in the day he admitted he never saw talladega nights and I just screamed. I wonder how many references I’ve been making he just has no idea what the hell I’m talking about
We ended up camping a little short of where we planned on going cause allegedly the mosquitoes were really bad there but it was also a resupply day so nearly 25 miles isn’t great but not terrible. With only one resupply left we should be able to truck through to finish on the 24th (the date we need to finish to get a ride from a guy we met that goes back to work on the 26th).
The terrain was pretty steep again today. A big selling point for the pct is that it’s graded for pack animals, but if they can handle this grade I don’t think it’s that much of a positive. This is damn steep. And I’m a a little scared that I’ve had it too good for too long out here so when I go back to finish the AT it’s just gonna be like hiking a vertical wall.
Song of the day: another way to die-disturbed
