Day 207

Day 207 (cdt 34): 30 miles

After waiting 15 minutes to use the bathroom this morning cause I was in too commercial of an area for my liking, I got back on trail. At the beginning it was way too crowded going by swiftcurrent lake but as I got farther along it thinned out.

It was a warm and exposed climb going up to Piegan pass. I was sweating my ass off and couldn’t really wear my sunglasses cause they would get covered in sweat. After I got back down in elevation the day was mostly flat but it wasn’t super easy. About 10 straight miles were walking in serious overgrowth (seen in the last picture). I was surprised any trail was this overgrown in a national park but I guess NARPs must not use that trail.

In the afternoon I stopped and chatted with a cute girl and asked how she was doing. She said she was dying but I assured her she was close to the parking lot and offered her some water. She declined but after I moved on I thought to myself, “What a fool! You don’t know when your next water is and you’re going to give it away to someone that is nearly back at their car!” To my brethren out there, stay strong in the pursuit of your goals. Do not be distracted by the evil temptresses!

I think I came upon a blind chipmunk today. He was just sitting in the middle of the trail and refused to move at all. I nearly stepped on him cause he was like a statue. He refused to leave his spot until I gave him a tap with my trekking pole.

At camp I met a few other people out for the night. They were cool and gave me some wine which gave me a nice buzz before bed. Right before bed i went down to Red Eagle Lake to get some water and it was the most surreal experience all day. It was just a calming natural beauty that words can’t describe.

Song of the day: put your records on-ritt momney
