Day 209

Day 209 (cdt 36): 28 miles
I picked up my food box in east glacier and got a 16” pizza at 9am to start off the day. I was pleasantly surprised when I asked the guy behind the counter if they served pizza and he said he’d make one.
My pack felt pretty damn heavy getting back on trail. I brought food for a 6 day carry but if I can ration it towards the end I might try to stretch it to 8 days to avoid hitching into Lincoln and wasting time.
Most of today either smelled like dirty feet (from some plant that smells weird) or horse shit (from horse shit).
The hiking was pretty easy today. It was mostly flat and only with a little overgrowth at times. There were probably 10 stream crossings. I had to barefoot Ford 3 or 4 of them and was able to rock hop across the rest. The water wasn’t high or fast moving, and it wasn’t freezing cold like the fords in the Sierra. The fords weren’t all sunshine and roses though. My feet have been hurting a good amount lately, well actually for quite a while now, and stepping barefoot on uneven rocks was painful with every step. On the bright side I didn’t have to get my shoes and socks wet.
On one stream I spent a good 10 minutes trying to throw rocks at one part to be able to make one big step across a rockless spot. After finally getting one to stick out of the water, I ended up dipping my toes in the water anyways.
It was cloudy today which made it a little cooler which was nice. It sprinkled a little off and on but just teased rain all day.
