Day 213

Day 213

Day 213 (cdt 40): 27 miles

It was the first time in a few days I had a peaceful morning and nothing was wet. I still slept in a little too long. I’ve been sleeping more than usual and will probably have to cut back so I can get my miles up a little bit. I got out of the Bob Marshall Wilderness today and entered the Scapegoat Wilderness.

I had a couple more barefoot fords today. They really aren’t bad at all, just a bit of a nuisance for me to take off my shoes and socks and then dry out on the other side. I refuse to get my shoes and socks wet unless I absolutely have to.

I ended up stopping pretty early (around 8) cause I’m in another burn area and I have campsite anxiety in the upcoming section so I stopped when I knew I had a decent one. But it is in a pretty meadow which looks nice. I just hope I don’t wake up with a brunch of dew.

Today was probably the least hazy day in a while from the smoke. It was still hazy but a little better. With as remote as Montana is I was really expecting crisp views with amazing sunset skies every night but with the smoke from the fires it basically bleeds from gray skies with light to dark gray skies. I’m already thinking I’ll probably have to come back to Montana under better conditions to truly appreciate it, or at least this northern part. Finally left the Bob Marshall Wilderness today and entered Scapegoat Wilderness.
