Day 280
October 12, 2021

Day 280 (AT 84): 24 miles
Today, kinda like yesterday, was a lot of PUDs (pointless up and downs) without many views. There was a lot of climbing today but the only real good views were on the Baldpates. Everything else was tree covered with a small openings to see the sky a little. I’m glad it wasn’t while I was doing the Baldpates. That would’ve been a slip and slide but with some rough landings.
I went into Andover today and for some food and a pizza. I decided to go in here instead of Bethel which looked farther off trail. A lady in the store told me I look tired. That’s not good. Well I probably am, but I don’t have time for that.
As the sun was setting I got to Grafton Notch and had the pleasure of opening a new section on guthook for southern Maine and New Hampshire. Immediately after this I had the pleasure of finishing the day off with a 2,500 foot climb up to old speck mountain, the 3rd highest in Maine. I’m camping near the top and there’s a fire tower. I’m planning on getting up and watching the sunrise here, definitely not something I sit around and wait for very often. So if I oversleep tomorrow I might just quit and go home I’ll be so angry
Tomorrow will be the Mahoosuc Notch, a notorious section of trail. It should make for an interesting day. I’m sure I’ll get frustrated with how slow I’ll be moving.
Song of the day: twisted transistor-korn
