Day 314 (AZT 19): 30 miles
I actually woke up on time today. Since I was camping by someone else and my alarm woke them up I felt guilty enough to at least force myself to get up so the alarm wasn’t a waste. Except when I slept near @macwynne then it was an unintentional daily contest of who could sleep in longer.
The morning was frustrating, going up and over a hill to just go back down in a wash and repeat. There was a large camp of RVs and whatnot in one wash with nobody around. I strongly considered going over and taking some water since I was running low but decided against it. My virtue was rewarded shortly after with a surprise water cache which I really needed.
The last few miles before I went into Oracle for resupply were pretty brutal. I was just getting roasted by the sun and everting from my clothes to my phone felt hot. I was so looking forward to getting in some air conditioning in town. It’s funny how 85 feels so hot now when I dealt with two straight weeks of 100+ in Northern California but I was expecting colder temps here. I checked the weather today and it looks like it should finally start cooling down into the 70s tomorrow. I welcome it.
I resupplied and got some food in town before heading back out to begin the climb up Mt Lemmon. I ended up hiking faster and more than I expected tonight so I made it a good ways up the mountain before I called it a night at a pretty meh campsite. I think I was jacked up from the amount of Dr Pepper I had in town and I was calling a bunch of friends so the hours just flew by.
I’m camping up at higher elevation tonight so hopefully it’s cooler so i can actually use my sleeping bag more as it’s intended.
Song of the day: better not-Louis the child
