Day 320 (AZT 25): 13 miles
It was tough to get up and going this morning after getting about 4 hours of sleep again but a mr Mac Miller helped me to get moving, specifically That’s Life hit a little bit different on my last morning of the AZT. The terrain wasn’t terrible this morning but it wasn’t great. It was overgrown in a lot of places and I was getting scratched up a bit or having to move slower but it didn’t really matter. There was only one thing on my mind: finish.
And that I did. I got down to Montezuma Pass and ended my hike there since the last 2 miles of trail is closed due to border wall construction which isn’t happening anymore. Another great win again for bureaucracy.
I don’t really have a ton else to say. I really like the desert. The Arizona Trail was great. My body felt pretty bad for over half of this trail but I just kept pushing through. Towards the end I was really ready to be done. I’ve got some serious recovery to do before I start the Buckeye Trail with the shape my body is in. The main problem is my feet. It’s almost like they weren’t designed to hike 10,000 miles in a year or something.
Song of the day: Lux Aeterna-Clint mansell
One hell of a song to end a hike on
