Day 25

Day 25 (PT 10): 25 miles
I hiked a quick 14 miles to a road where I could hitch into talladega. It was great. This was my first time on this trip hitchiking took under an hour. I got a ride after about20 minutes of standing in the roasting sun.
I enjoyed a break in the heat for a few hours again at a McDonald’s. I enjoyed a nice feast of 40 nuggets, 2 large fries and 2 McDoubles. And then got 9 McDoubles to pack out.
Again, I didn’t feel like walking to a grocery store, so I just packed out McDoubles. I’m really taking this McDonald’s challenge to a new level and just making it a lifestyle. Also the inflation we need to be talking about is the McDouble. It’s price has increased 140% from approximately 10 years ago. Seems to be outpacing inflation to me.
I got back on trail earlier than I expected and it was still 90 degrees. I covered some more ground. I had to ford Dry Creek which I guess can sometimes be a roaring river, but wasn’t too bad for me. I hung out there for a bit after and drank enough water to the point I felt sick because there was a dry stretch after it for 20 or so miles. I really never think about water on this trail. I probably wouldn’t even have realized that if someone else hadn’t mentioned it.
At my camp for the night I ran into another hiker (and the first thru hiker I’ve met on the Pinhoti I think). It turned out he hiked the PCT last year too. Small world
