Day 42 (ODT 10)

Day 42 (ODT 10): 27 miles

I couldn’t catch a Z worth a hill of beans last night. It was windy as hell and my tent was flapping non-stop. I couldn’t really tighten it down anymore cause the stakes were already in poorly cause it was really loose sand. The bad part too was that it wasn’t windy until after I already had set up camp and laid down. That’s not how wind is supposed to work.

Also my tent collapsed a couple times in the middle of the night cause the wind ripped stakes out of the ground. After the 3rd time, I went on a hunt for a rock to weigh some down and found one in the sea of sand. As a result of this, I overslept this morning and only got up cause the sun was baking me in my tent.

I pounded miles to make it into Plush as early as possible so I could chill for a while. I met another hiker while there, got a double cheeseburger and chicken strip basket, drank about 7 large Cokes, and picked up my food box. I ended up taking less than half of the food in the box and shipping the rest ahead because I’m still carrying some from the beginning of the trail (approximately 250 miles in). It’s absurd how much I had.

After leaving Plush, it was a pretty boring day. It was road walking for a while, and after a few hours my stomach started to get queasy and I had to take a break for an hour cause I felt like throwing up, but no protections were spewn.

Can’t believe the town of Plush didn’t have sign I could get a picture with smh. One of my favorite songs.
