Day 112 (PNT 17): 27 miles
I hit the road walk early in the day and fortunately had shade for most of it. If the sun was directly overhead, it would’ve been a lot more brutal. I got into northport and bought a couple bags of chips. I didn’t resupply in metaline falls and now didn’t really resupply in Northport because the amount of food I carried out of bonner’s ferry was insane. I wanted to buy 6 days of food for that stretch to be on the safe side but it was more like 10 days of food. And I have been eating a little less with as hot as it’s been.
I got some food at the bar in Northport and hung out there for a few hours before crossing over the Columbia River just north of town. This is right where the Columbia enters the US which is kinda cool.
Fueled up and feeling great after food and air conditioning in town, I cruised 5 miles after leaving town before camping on a side dirt road to avoid going to a campground. Paying for a tentsite feels absurd after camping freely on public land all the time.
There was a retro sign in the bar for an ad for Lucky Strike cigarettes which made me think of mad men which then made me go down a rabbit hole of mad men clips on YouTube which then made me want to rewatch mad men which frustrated me cause that’s way too addicting and too much time to do while on trail so I guess I’ll have to suffice with mad men podcasts for now.
