Day 114 (PNT 19)
August 2, 2022

Day 114 (PNT 19): 31 miles
I didn’t sleep great last night cause a loud truck straight out of Jeepers Creepers drove by the dirt road I was camping near. They stopped like 100 yards away from me, sat there for an hour with the truck roaring, and then left. They did this 2 more times throughout the night from 1am-4am. Idk what the hell they were doing but it interrupted my sleep schedule.
I hopped on the Kettle Crest trail this morning which has been worked on fairly recently to clear the damage from a fire several years ago. It certainly wasn’t perfect trail, but it was pretty good and I was happy to have all the downed trees out of the way.
Today was the first day the sky was really hazy. I was actually worried early in the day that there might be a fire nearby, but it appeared to get better as the day went on. And the fireman I met yesterday said smoke is rolling in from the Canadian fires.
I think today was the first day under 100 in a week and it felt great. Most of the day was through a burn area with absolutely no shade so I’m glad I wasn’t doing this part a few days ago.
Late in the day I had consistent cell service for the first time in a while so the climb and time flew by while I was calling people and catching up.
This Kettle Crest Trail is a cool little recreation trail and I’m sure was much better before the fire tore it to shreds.
