Day 115 (PNT 20): 30 miles
It was the first morning in a long time where I stepped outside my tent and it actually felt pleasant. It certainly wasn’t cold, but there was a little crisp chill in the air. It felt lovely. But it didn’t last long and soon warmed up with the sun, but still nothing compared to the 100 degrees it’s been recently.
I met a couple eastbounders in the morning that were really excited to meet another PNT thru hiker. They said they met a big group of westbounders in oroville 100 miles back. So the group is probably 200-250 miles ahead now. I think I’ll catch ‘em. I hope I do. They also warned of a lot of blow downs and lack of trail maintenance in the pasayten wilderness which I pretty much expected and got a little taste of last year while trying to get off the PCT after finishing as a fire was approaching.
The day was pretty easy and mostly cruisey except a small bushwhack section. The “official” trail was allegedly a tougher and longer bushwack so I took an alternate that had a shorter and easier one. It wasn’t bad at all.
The really annoying part of the last few days is being back in cow country. I was really enjoying the liberating lifestyle of team no filter, but I’m back to filtering my water like a dweeb.
Easy day, and bypassed the first road into Republic (there are 3 road options to go into town cause the trail loops around it) cause I had plenty of food to keep going.
Passed Edd’s Mountain. Where are Ed’s and Eddy’s
