Day 118 (PNT 23)
August 6, 2022

Day 118 (PNT 23): 56 miles I got back to trail later than expected which is always the case after staying in town. I started hiking around 11am. I didn’t plan on it at the time, but something ended up happening. I didn’t really feel like hiking at the time, so I thought, “what if I hiked all the way to the next town and the just ultra chilled out?” So I did the 56 miles and got to Oroville in the early afternoon the next day. I got some excellent gas station pizza before passing out. It was easy walking but I was disappointed cause I was looking forward to summiting Mount Bonaparte. I only found out about the fire closure the night before in town cause I ran into the same hikers that I met in Metaline Falls. It was great seeing them again cause I rarely see people more than once. On a lot of the road walk today there were goofy signs along the road saying things like “we don’t call the cops around here” with guns on the sign. I guess people really love the piece of dirt they own according to the government.
