A Day Before I Start 1

Day -7: 10 miles

Weather: rain and mid 30s

Since I’ll be doing the Appalachian trail a little out of order counting the days is a little odd. I decided the only rational way is to count up from negative 7 then tack these 7 days onto the count when I get back to this starting point.

Starting near Carlisle in Pennsylvania and I got started around 5pm. I was almost persuaded to go home before I even began when a guy that was high on something other than just life and wandering around a subway parking lot told me to go back to Ohio where dumbasses belong when he saw my license plate.

Had to do about 10 miles to get to camp. I started near the end of an all day rain so everything was muddy and sloppy but I didn’t get rained on too much. Made 2 aquatic friends after dark and had to fight off the urge to yell “Stop looking at me swan!”

Pretty short and uneventful day mostly just driving. We’ll see what tomorrow has to offer.

About Me

I'm from rural Ohio and had never camped or backpacked until 2018. Just 3 years later I completed a Calendar Year Triple Crown as my first thru hiking experience and now have ~15,000 miles of backpacking under my trail runners.
