A Day Before I Start 4

The human body craves contact
Day -4: 23 miles
Had a good day today. 23 miles is about right where I want to be right now. Mentally I want to go farther and do more but I know I shouldn’t start out too fast and force an injury. I just wanna shoot for mostly low-mid 20s for the first couple weeks to let my body adjust before going sicko mode.
Had to take an alternate route today cause a mile of the trail was “flooded with beaver activity.” Dam beavers.
Today was full of some good views and thankfully the weather cooperated with a clear day! Ran into a decent amount of day hikers and had some nice conversations. It’s crazy how much energy a short conversation can give you after so much time alone. I assume this will be magnified in the coming months
No complaints at all on the day until the last mile. I was so close to camp but I managed to conk my ankle on a rock pretty good and then shortly after my head on a thick branch. But as a football guy, the human body craves contact so it was fine with me.
In other news the Pacific Crest Trail Association announced they will be issuing permits so I am overjoyed. This simplifies a lot of things. Praise be
Weather: low 30s and cloudy
Song of the day: Big empty- Stone Temple Pilots
