Day 15

Day 15

Day 15: 21 miles

I knew it was going to be a short day today because there was going to be a winter storm tonight and I wanted to be done before that started. I could’ve went a little farther and stayed at a hostel but didn’t want to spend that money again since I just stayed at one a few days ago. I was done hiking by 3:30 which felt very strange. I felt like I really shouldn’t be some for the day.

Before that I was dealing with a couple bloody noses today. I’m not a person that gets many bloody noses so I’m not sure exactly what it was from, but if I had to guess it would probably result somewhat from the fact that I do 3-8 farmers sneezes per day. If I had the energy to get out some athletic tape I definitely could’ve pulled off the JJ Watt look.

I was definitely a little dehydrated this morning but thankfully I just scarfed down a few fudge rounds and felt better until I got water 5 miles later. It’s a tough balance of staying hydrated with a couple factors at play. A lot of times, if I get water the night before it will freeze overnight. Most of the time, I don’t want to fill up on water if I’m not going to drink it right there because it is very heavy. And oftentimes, I’m just too lazy to go get it if it is as much as .1 mile off the trail.

I passed over Big Bald today and it was even better than I remember. There were quite a lot of God rays peeking out of the clouds and the wind was howling. It sure would be a beautiful camp spot up there except for the wind. The weather seemed great the rest of the day while I was hiking. After the morning it was sunny, hot, and humid and the skies were clear. It really didn’t seem like I was gonna get up to 6 inches of snow tonight.

Of course after finishing my day super early I didn’t have any cell service to catch up on some things I should do when I have the time! But it is what it is. I’ll catch up on some sleep

Day 2 of no toilet paper-not super fun
