Day 19: 24 miles
If you don’t get the above quote consider our friendship level less than it previously was. I was not super psyched in this picture but I made it through the day.
The mice came out to play around 4:30am and ruined my night of peaceful sleep in the storm. We got a few inches of snow last night and it rained this morning. All day I was walking in a slosh pit. Anytime I tried to pick up speed or use my full stride length I would slip and slide all over the place. I probably hit double digits for falls today. One fall was pretty nasty when I was crossing a stream and stepped on an unstable rock and took a tumble and banged up my knee and forearm. I managed to avoid falling in the stream except for my feet. Quite a feat.
One of the falls was perfectly timed with the beat drop of shoota by carti. I was just vibing too mf hard.
Again today, I was maneuvering through sagging tree branches weighed down by the weight of snow. I’d get more wet from walking through those than the actual rain. And every time I try to hit them to get the snow off I somehow manage to get the snow to fall right on me.
The only thing keeping me going was the thought of staying indoors tonight. A few years ago when I was hiking I ran into this guy who gave me his number if I ever needed some help on the AT in his area. Him and his wife are the greatest hosts I’ve ever seen.
Supposed to get 5-7 inches of snow tomorrow and then some more the next day. And that kind of a forecast in town is only amplified for the mountains I’ll be in. It’s probably going to be a couple slow moving days going forward.
Song of the day: click click boom-Saliva
Really jump started me to pick up speed the second half of the day
