Day 2

Day 2: 27 miles

Passed over Blood Mountain which was a lot better than the last time I was there when visibility was 10 feet. I got a resupply at Mountain Crossings and the workers there were super friendly. It’s always humbling to walk by there because it a common spot where thru hikers quit and they toss their shoes up in the tree as a gesture to the trail. Or maybe it’s just a great cover up for a trap house.

My pack certainly feels a lot heavier after adding 3.5 days worth of food to it. I moved quite a bit slower after that. I thought that yesterday and this morning my pace seemed a little fast. I attributed it to being away from Pennsylvania where there weren’t rocks everywhere, but it was probably more the fact that I was carrying basically no food.

The wind was howling this morning which made it chilly but it warmed up throughout the day and there were a lot of people out. Talked to a lot of very nice people today.

It’s supposed to rain tonight and into the morning so I might get a late start to try to avoid being rained on.
