Day 33

Day 33

Day 33: 32 miles

I ended up getting started later than I had hoped today cause every time I was about to fall asleep last night a baby started screaming in a room nearby. A later start it was. But it was also fitting with the fog. I wish I had fog like this in high school. We would’ve been delayed everyday. Having fog and not being able to see any views is almost becoming the standard out here. The one good thing about the fog is that it makes ominous looking trees look very cool.

It rained a little bit every once and a while during the day, but I was constantly getting pelted with melting ice from the trees since it was like 35 degrees. Then, about 2 hours before I was done for the day, the gates opened up and it really started to come down.

I didn’t really feel great today. I covered a lot of miles but it felt rough and my pack felt pretty heavy. I definitely bought more food than needed so I might stretch it out and extra day or 2.

I saw a lot of deer today showing off athleticism when they took off after staring at me for 10 seconds.

I kind of wished I would’ve taken a video of walking on the trail at times today but I had 3 layers of mittens on and it just wasn’t easy. But anyways at times it was basically like walking in a huge pile of crushed ice cubes because so much ice was melting and falling off of tree recently. Today one pretty large piece hit me in the head and I actually yelled ow instinctively in response. The trail was just massive piles of small ice pieces and under them is freezing cold water. Sun please come out and do your thing. I haven’t seen the sun in almost a week. At times like this it is hard to stay loyal to the good vibes only gang.
